Reflection on Recreations
I have learned from my recreations that I need to update my photoshop skills. I struggled with the making of the front cover recreation as photoshops editing tools worked against me as I have not used the software for a long time and so I need to improve my skills. The billboard was easy to do as I just needed to find images and put them in place like the billboard I took from. Overall the recreations showed I am out of practice with photoshop.

Photoshoot Photos

The photos i like the most is the "fed up" photo and the crutches photo. This is because the mise en scene perfectly describes the social feeling of my region in the North East. The Photo Of Adam with Crutches and a camera i feel is a strong photo as it shows that he doesn't let his bad legs get in the way. It also shows the region on its last legs in a way, further being highlighted by the urban art background. One other I liked was Adam pointing his camera at me. This is because if i chose to Photoshop that image, it will work well on a front cover with an edited background. The remaining two i do not find suitable because i dont know what i can do with them, There is no urban background and i haven't got any ideas where those pictures would work with a Photoshopped Background so for now i consider those two unsuitable

Recce
1) Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects)?
Some images will be taken near roads and near water which are a clear risk. The roads could be busy when I take the photo shoot and it could end up being very bad weather with rain and wind. This is not only a risk to people, but to the equipment I will be using too.
2)What will you do to ensure these risks are minimized?
To reduce these risks I will take the location photos when there is less traffic. A suitable time for this is a morning during the week. The images taken near water will not be hazardous as I will not go too close to the water therefore both myself, the people with me and the equipment will not be at risk.
3) Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
The photos taken outdoors are not dependent on lots of light but cannot be taken when it’s raining or when it is dark. Because of this, the images will be taken during the day when the weather is suitable. The images taken indoors will be taken during the day however they will not require beams of sunlight.
4)Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want?
The images taken indoors will have more basic backgrounds however the outdoor images will contain more. The image for the magazine’s front cover will take place in an urban environment, since my region is in the North East and so an urban environment is well suited for it.
5) Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect?
The front cover will require a degree of lighting on my model, however other than that, not much lighting is required.
6) Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind?
No
7) Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio at Shiney)?
No
8. Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect?
I do not need to worry about crowds as i plan to take photos under the teeside bridge
9. Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B?
be taken. I have one prop that is mine that i plan to use, which is a clapperboard. I plan to use my friends camera as a prop aswell. I have a plan B, where i will simply use me as the model and my clapperboard.
10. Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…?
From doing this recce, I am confident that I can carry out an effective and careful photo shoot and that I can get the images I need in order to create well designed products.

July 2017
Font Ideas: I want to get as many fonts as possible for mastheads, sell lines, etc.
Reflection: I now have fonts for my masthead and sell lines. i chose Bold fonts for mastheads and Subheads and small fonts for sell lines
Magazine Masthead Ideas: For this, I listed various names for a magazine and how I can position it on my front cover.
Colour, Costume, Hair and Props: I decided on Colour Scheme for my magazine, the costume ideas for my model, and what kind of hairstyle is suitable, and the types of props that can be used in the photo-shoot.
Magazine Inspirations: I researched into different magazines, most notably Empire and TotalFilm, and looked at there Fonts and Design, and took ideas from them.
Website Inspirations: Like what i did with my magazine inspirations, i looked at different websites, such as websites for a regional magazine and national magazine and looked at how different their designs were.
Billboard Inspirations: Once again, i looked at different things, this time being billboards and studied their design, fonts and color scheme
Miller and Ferguson Facial Expression research: To study facial expressions, i looked into the works of miller and ferguson so i can help my model have more range in facial expressions
National and Regional Research: In this research, i studied what is the key differences between National and Regional magazines, so i can make a good enough Regional magazine
Institution Research: I started to look at intuitions for national and regional magazines. In this, i discovered that Regional magazines self publish.
Generic Conventions: I researched the generic conventions of the magazine, Website and Billboard. I hope top change some of these, such as the message of intent.
Competition: I looked at different film magazine to see if mine would have a chance. I learned that my main threat is National magazines. I should be fine in terms of reading Regional magazines
Deconstructions: this deconstruction is necessary, as it helps me with the layout and design of the magazine, website and billboard as i understand how they are made.
DraftPhotos: I uploaded some photos that look similar to what i want my final products to look like, so i can have an understanding of what i want them to look like.
