By deconstructing the magazines,  I know how to make them and picked up a few ideas. With Magazines, i further saw the differences between Regional and National magazines, and saw how regional magazines can look basic but professional. I can also see the difference in appearance in a mature magazine aimed at an older audience and a immature magazine aimed at a younger audience

Looking at my competition has helped me figure out how to build my magazine, to make it unique as my magazine is regional while the others are national.

Institutions

Introduction: Here i will be looking at institutions for magazines, which are both regional and national. It has helped me think that my topic is an underused topic regionally, so it has helped me develop how i will build my regional film magazines.
   
Reflections: Now i have knowledge of how differently national and regional magazines are published. National magazines have large institutions that are spread across the country, while regional magazines self publish, which explains why they are locked in one region.

WIX Template research

I am designing the website using a design tool called Wix. I have looked at two templates that i think will work well.

I like this one as its backdrop is old traditional film and the structure can help with links to reviews or interviews.






I like this template as it gives me a lot more to work with. While less powerful picture, i can replace the images with a better one, i like the layout of this one better.

Millum And Ferguson Facial expression research

Introduction: In order to help me with my own magazine images, I did some research on facial expressions. I discovered that the two main theorists (Trevor Millum and Marjorie Ferguson) had created various groups in which both male and female models facial expressions could be categorized into. I recorded the key information about these groups in the powerpoint below

It was a tough choice but in the end I decided to go with Northern Film, as its simplistic and gets the point across.

Compare and Contrast: Regional Magazine

Here, I know what makes a national magazine and a regional magazine. A national magazine has access to the whole country while regional magazines are restricted to one region.

What could be improved? 

I liked how my original products turned out, however, there can definitely be some improvements made to my products. For my front page, i didn't give enough to show that this is a rap magazine, with the background not having any detail. In my contents page, the structure of the layout is messy, and the DPS is bare bones. I aim to add more detail in the background to define my genre next time

What did you struggle with? 

I struggled with Photoshop tools, because i had no idea how to make anything or use it bat all, which resulted in it looking unprofessional, so i needed to change my style multiple times. Because of this, i struggled with time management as well.


What will you do better this time 

This time I am going to organize my time a lot better so that I remain on track in the lead up to my final product. I am going to use the skills i have learnt from AS to use Photoshop much more professionally as I feel like I have learnt a lot throughout the year.
